I was commissioned to paint this for a local Lobster Fisherman by his wife for Father's Day. I put 7 Red lobsters and 4 that are slightly hidden to represent their 4 beautiful daughters. The copper in the mermaid's hair is fashioned after the fisherman's wife. I used the top of the lighthouse from the movie filmed in Yarmouth in 2018 "The Lighthouse" and as a tribute to Maud Lewis I added a Maud house. Hope this brings you many hours of enjoyment.

At Cape Fochu, a 60-foot-tall lighthouse was built for the film The Lighthouse, along with several buildings. William Dafore and Robert Patterson were here for filming. The set was taken down and there is now not even a piece of wood left on the site. This picture was taken by Ervin Olsen during the build of the movie set.
Maud Lewis is one of my favorite artists. She lived most of her life in a small house in Marshalltown, Nova Scotia. I have depicted her house in this painting. Maud achieved national recognition in 1964 and 1965 for her cheerful paintings of landscapes, animals and flowers, which offer a nostalgic and optimistic vision of her native province.
