Spring was the inspiration behind my 6th painting in my Nova Scotia series. As a young girl growing up in rural Nova Scotia finding pollywogs in the ditches, fly fishing for trout with my dad and long Sunday drives were a sure sign of Spring. These experiences inspired me to design, tie and sell trout flies to Carl's Store in Tusket in the late 80's. On Sunday drives now I might end up at Cape Forchu Lighthouse, the Triplets on Main Street or my great-grandfather's Cattle Barn which now houses Yaciuk's Antiques. The Owl was inspired by one of my favorite places to eat, Perky Owl. The entertainers on the "Ultimate Online Nova Scotia Kitchen Party" inspired the boat load of musical instruments and the inspiration for "Puff the Magic Dragon" came from Barb, Catherine and John, some of my favorite entertainers. I love hiding items for people to find and in this painting I hid 6 rolls of toilet paper to
honor the toilet paper craze of Spring 2020.

Yaciuk's Antiques in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, in a small village called Brenton, is an antique store that is special to me as the owners are dear friends and family. The antique shop is located on the historic family homestead of Ken Winter(my cousin), in a renovated barn. They have beautiful clocks, hummels, and antiques. They sell my cards at their shop. Richard LeBlanc joyfully dove into the revitalization of these buildings as he hopes revitalizing the three buildings will make locals and visitors smile when they walk down Main Street and feel good about being here. These buildings are located in downtown Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.
Cape Forchu is the only lighthouse in Nova Scotia that can be climbed and has an intact lightkeeper’s dwelling open to the public. A short drive from the Town of Yarmouth the road to Cape Forchu is beautiful and senic. Along the route to the lighthouse you will pass the Fish Point Monument, a view of the Bunker Island Lighthouse, a working fishing wharf, and beautiful sandy beaches. At the lighthouse make sure to take a stroll through the Leif Erikson Park, passing the impressive whale skeleton display, interesting rock formations, and beautiful ocean views.
Many years ago I used to make flies while living in Jordan Falls in the Town of Shelburne Nova Scotia. This was a hobby that led me to bringing them to Carl's Store in Tusket to sell. The flies in the painting were some of the designs that I made. Many flies are used for trout fishing which is one of the many fish featured in this painting.
