I Love Nova Scotia Summer #7

My 7th painting in my Nova Scotia series was inspired by summer in

Nova Scotia and a personalized bag made for me by my friend Lana Shupe (The Little Old Bag Lady LANA). The hand-stitched tartan hearts sewn on my bag inspired me to paint many in my painting, with a few hidden throughout. I painted the Sandy Point Lighthouse, located in Shelburne Co., overlooking one of our many beaches. I then painted the Bluenose Schooner of Lunenburg anchored in a harbour, visiting one of many places this summer as it celebrates its 100th Anniversary. I wanted to highlight the 1967 Shag Harbour UFO sighting which was witnessed by many as it went into the ocean. I was 10 years old when this took place so I painted a UFO tangled up in a giant octopus, my theory of why the UFO was never seen again. I then painted in a rat and motorcycle to honour the Wharf Rat Rally, which began in 2005, in the small town of Digby. In 2017 alone, over 20,000 people attended this event. How many tartan items can you find in my Summer painting?

Sandy Point Lighthouse

The Sandy Point Lighthouse – one of Shelburne’s most popular destinations. Located on a sand bar at the entrance of Shelburne Harbour, the lighthouse offers photo opportunities at any time of day; however, at low tide, you can enjoy the sandy beach which allows you to walk out to the lighthouse.
